The earliest detection of cavities is extremely important to us. We do not want your teeth to be more restorative material than natural tooth, no matter how attractive and healthy our restorative options may be. We want to keep your teeth intact, with as much healthy tooth structure remaining as possible.

That is why we continue to invest in diagnostic technology. The DIAGNOdent laser detection technology is specifically designed to find and diagnose cavities before any other method can even begin to detect them.
 
As the DIAGNOdent scans your teeth, the laser pulses into grooves, fissures and cracks, reflecting fluorescent light of a specific wavelength.

This light is measured by receptors and converted to an acoustic signal. This signal is evaluated and displayed on our computer screen. If the laser finds an unhealthy surface, the light wavelength changes and indicates areas in which decay has occurred.

With this tool, we can find tiny amounts of decay earlier than even with our digital x-rays or intra-oral cameras! In fact, it can find 50 percent of the decay that goes undetected by radiography without exposing you to radiation.
